| Under 50 | $7,500 |
| 50+ | $8,600 |
You can't contribute more than your earned income for the year. Roth IRA eligibility phases out at higher incomes, and Traditional IRA deductions may be limited if you have a workplace plan. Check IRS.gov for income ranges.
Which comes first?
A common order people follow (not advice):
- 1. Get your full 401(k) match. It's free money. Deadline: your last paycheck of December 2026.
- 2. Fund your IRA. You have until April 15, 2027, so there's more time.
- 3. Raise your 401(k) toward the max. Payroll only, and it ends with December's paychecks, so time-sensitive late in the year.
